I’m making a pretty bold claim there, right? But it’s not tosh, I promise! That’s how much my traffic grew to GoneDogMad in less than a month back in January 2018.

And I’d love to show you the framework I used to get there. And in fact still use to keep growing my blog traffic.

My easy 5 step system

Planning – It all starts with a crystal clear monthly content calendar. My content calendar maps out all the articles I’ll publish each month in a handy spreadsheet. After researching popular keywords, I input my exact topics and the date I’ll publish, along with any keywords I’ll target for each article. If you’d like to get your hands on my content calendar, you can go grab that here.

Content creation – Then we enter the creation phase. Every article I write for GoneDogMad is extremely well-researched, well-written and high-quality. I want the reader to come away with all their questions answered. I want them to gain enormous value and feel compelled to come back for more.

Which is exactly the kind of content your pet business should be creating too!

Optimise & design – After I’ve published the article on WordPress and used the SEO plugin, Yoast to optimise my post, I design a new pin for Pinterest. I usually make these in a designing app called Canva, and they have a number of ready-to-go templates you can use.

Pinterest marketing – I then upload my new pin image to Pinterest, add a keyword rich description with hashtags and save it to my articles board.

If you haven’t heard of the app Tailwind, you’re going to love this! I adore Tailwind because it’s super intuitive and makes sharing pins a total breeze. I mean, I can spend an hour or two scheduling pins in Tailwind, and I’ll have 30 or so pins a day lined up and ready to go for a month. Go here to check out the Tailwind app.

It’s just, amazing! That, right there my friend, is wonder woman time saving!

Tailwind scheduling – So next, I’ll save my latest pin to Tailwind and edit the settings in my drafts. I’ll add all the group boards I want to share my pin to, hit publish and this will automatically go out at the best times over the course of a month. I also share my pin to different Tailwind Tribes to give my pin even more exposure.

Lather, rinse, repeat.

I publish a blog post once a week and I’ll create a new pin for each one to circulate Pinterest every week.

And that’s pretty much it. This is the strategy I use to bring in consistent traffic from both Pinterest and the search engines. It’s how I’ve grown GoneDogMad from zero visitors to 6,000 sessions a month.

This is the strategy I follow and share with my clients. If you’d like to work with me and get your very own roadmap to grow your website traffic, hit the chat button and let’s talk.
